International Women's Day 2023: Women are at the forefront of economic growth and are walking shoulder to shoulder with men in every field. Despite this, there has been a perception that technology is majorly a male-dominated industry. As the theme for International Women’s Day this year is - “DigitALL” Innovation and technology for gender equality”, let's have a look at some inspiring stories where women entrepreneurs turned the tide and have successfully built thriving businesses in the technology sector.

Devita Saraf - Chairperson and CEO, The Vu Group

Born in Mumbai, Devita Saraf started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 24. She founded the Vu Group, which sells high-end LED TVs, in California. Vu Televisions has a revenue of Rs 1,000 crore. Her passion for technology and innovation has led Vu Televisions to become the highest-selling Indian-owned TV brand in the world. According to Hurun Report, Devita is the richest self-made woman in India under 40 and has also been listed among Fortune's Top 50 Most Powerful Women in India.  

Aayushi Kishore, Co-Founder, Fire Boltt

Aayushi Kishore is one of the founders of Fire Boltt, a popular homegrown brand in the wearables, gaming and audio space. Aayushi, who holds a degree from Harvard Business School,  comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Based out of Noida, Fire Boltt develops superior quality products and satiates the growing demand for smart-tech-wearables in the country and the world.

Radha Basu, Founder and CEO - iMerit

Radha Basu is the founder and CEO of iMerit, which provides end-to-end data labelling services to Fortune 500 companies in a wide array of industries. Previously, Radha was the SupportSoft Chairwoman and CEO. She spent 20 years at Hewlett Packard, where she grew HP’s electronic software division into a $1.2 billion business and launched HP in India.

Meenakshi Vashist, Founder - TekUncorked

Meenakshi Vashist, who worked with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), is the founder of TekUncorked - a Gurugram-based start-up. The platform helps in the elimination of grid losses and decarbonises the grid by using AI technology.

Runam Mehta, CEO - HealthCube

Runam Mehta, who has over 15 years of experience in building businesses and new channels in the healthcare industry, is the CEO of HealthCube. The health-tech company was founded in 2015 with the aim of transforming health outcomes through timely and accessible diagnostics.

Komal Agarwal, Co-Founder - Pebble

Komal Agarwal, an electronic engineer from NTU, Singapore, and an IIM Calcutta Post-graduate, co-founded the brand Pebble in the year 2013. Before starting up her own venture, she worked with corporate houses like JP Morgan and Mckinsey. Over the years, the portfolio has grown to more than 100+ SKUs in various categories.
