This is courtesy a deal between WhatsApp and Google and it will save only that data which was not properly saved in the iCloud Drive.

1. Open up your Whatsapp and go on to the top right icon which gives ''Settings'' option
2. Click the 2nd option "chats"
3. Select the second last option - "Chat backup"
4. Sign into iCloud - put it ''On''
5. Repeat this with “WhatsApp” tab

6. Backup your data! Not so fast! You will need to head back to WhatsApp and go through the first 3 steps again and then only will you be able to successfully complete the process.
