How to add to WhatsApp groups: Here's how you can decide who can add your number | Check NOW

The Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp, which is currently facing huge backlash due to its new controversial privacy policies, has recently shared new ways to change group privacy settings. Group Privacy setting enables you to control who adds you to a WhatsApp group – enabling you pick and choose which group chats you’d like to be a part of.

How to change group privacy settings on Android, iPhone, and KaiOS, you can decide who can add you to groups by selecting your preferred option. To enable it, go to Settings in your app, then tap Account > Privacy > Groups and select one of three options: “Everyone,” “My Contacts,” or “My Contacts Except”.

"Go to WhatsApp Settings: On Android: Tap More options > Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. On iPhone: Tap Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. On KaiOS: Press Options > Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups," the messaging platform informed.

 “My Contacts” means only users you have in your address book can add you to groups and “My Contacts Except” provides additional control for who among your contacts can add you to a group. WhatsApp latest update on privacy: Five upgraded features on this app.

"My Contacts Except.." means only contacts in your phone’s address book, except those you exclude, can add you to groups without your approval. After selecting My Contacts Except… you can search for or select contacts to exclude.

If a group admin you exclude tries to add you to a group, they’ll get a pop-up that says they can’t add you and will be prompted to tap Invite to Group followed by the send button to send a private group invite through an individual chat. You'll have three days to accept the invite before it expires.

Meanwhile, to make WhatsApp more secure for its users, the famous messaging platform has added an additional layer of protection when you want to link your WhatsApp account to your computer. In order to link WhatsApp Web or Desktop to your WhatsApp account you will be asked to use your face or fingerprint unlock on your phone, before scanning a QR code from the phone to link your device.
