The world is going digital and India is leaving no stone unturned to stay in tune with the changing times. Video Analytics is one of the most important technologies these days considering the increase in the number of smart cities that India wants to develop in the coming days. Video analytics is a technology that processes a digital video signal using a special algorithm to perform a security-related function. It effectively enables traffic management, crime prevention, waste management, effective energy consumption, cleanliness, accident detection, citizen safety and women’s safety culminating in sustainable development and holistic socio-economic growth.

According to Arindam Das Sarkar, the Founder of Mirasys India, the real-time monitoring of areas can lead to better resolution of problems, be it anti-social activities, a blind spot becoming an accident-prone area or crowd management during religious festivals or political gatherings.

"Imagine every pixel in a crowd telling a story in real-time. It's not just data; it's the safety and comfort of our people. We aim to make crowd experiences more enjoyable, less about navigating chaos and more about immersing oneself in the moment. It's about parents feeling secure when their children are out during festivities, or commuters knowing their journey will be hassle-free. By merging technology with a human-centric approach, we're not just overseeing India; we're actively participating in its vibrant narrative, fostering a sense of community, safety, and belonging. With video analytics, we can predict and respond swiftly to any potential issues, creating a safer environment for everyone," Sarkar explained.

How does video analytics technology work?

This technology uses unsupervised learning methods like Comparative, Hermeneutic and Adaptive methodology for adverse conditions. According to Sarkar, Mirasys Spotter can track objects even with a Fixed Camera. In case of recording failure, the server recordings through LIVE viewing can provide details of every inch of the observed area. With the potential to play footage of 16 cameras in the desired order, it can also show them in a grid. This digital accessibility has led to cities like Varanasi and Gandhinagar becoming safer, and more secure, with criminal activities declining.
