Huawei's sub-brand Honor on Saturday unveiled the first products to be powered by its new operating system - HarmonyOS - a potential alternative to Android operating system. The OS will power Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro, dubbed as Smart Screen devices by the company. However, these are Smart TVs that run on this new OS. Both Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro come with a 55-inch 4K UHD screen and are powered by quad-core Honghu 818 chip. They are set to go on sale in China next week and there is no word on their availability in India or any other international market yet.

The Honor Vision is priced at CNY 3,799 (roughly Rs 38,200). It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Meanwhile, Honor Vision Pro with pop-up camera is priced at CNY 4,799 (roughly Rs 48,200). It comes with 2GB RAM+32 GB storage. The series is already up for pre-orders via Vmall and will go on sale in China from August 15.

As mentioned above, both screens of the series come with a 55-inch 4K (3840×2160 pixels) display with NTSC 87 per cent wide colour gamut and 178-degree viewing angles. Both Honor Vision models are powered by Honghu 818 quad-core SoC and have a three-side bezel-less full-view design. The processor offers seven advanced image-processing technologies - Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation (MEMC), High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR), Super-Resolution (SR), Noise Reduction (NR), Dynamic Contrast Improvement (DCI), Auto Color Management (ACM) and Local Dimming (LD).

The company claims that Pro model of the series offers video calling at 1080p@30fps with the help of the popup camera, and has six far-field microphones. The Pro variant has six 10W speakers, while the Honor Vision has four 10W speakers only.

The new operating system was launched by Huawei during the HDC and is designed to deliver a cohesive user experience across all devices and user scenarios. It said that the operating system will gradually be adopted across the brand’s smart devices including smartwatches, smart screens, in-vehicle systems, and smart speakers.
