Has Pokemon GOs popularity ended as soon as it began?
The games popularity has been declining in the US since July 14 in terms of daily active users, total downloads and in terms of search interest.
The augmented reality (AR) game Pokemon Go had taken the world by storm almost immediately after its launch in the US on July 5. However, it seems that the craze for the game might be short lived and has its peak in the US.
game's popularity has been declining in the US since July 14 in terms of daily active users, total downloads and in terms of search interest, according to a Survey Monkey Intelligence report.
In terms of daily active users Pokemon Go usage peaked on July 14, a week after its release. The report estimate that just over 25 million smartphone users played the game on July 14, though usage levels were fairly steady at just over 25 million users few a few days around that time before declining.
However, towards July 20 the daily active users were declining to nearly 20 million.
While Pokemon Go downloads was the highest at nearly 6 million on July 7, it saw a big decline after July 12 in the US. In fact, game such as Candy Crush Saga and Draw Something hit their daily-download peaks after some months since the initial release, said the report.
Similarly, Pokemon Go searches on Google has been on the decline since July 13. The number of Google searches closely mirrors the actual usage of the Pokemon Go app. It had a relatively flat peak from July 13 to 16.
This shows that the game has suddenly spiked up in popularity, but might not continue this in the long haul.
However, the game is not yet available in all countries across the globe so there is a possibility of the games popularity increasing.
