Technology giant Google is going to remove its 'Album Archive' feature from Wednesday, July 19. The feature helped users manage and view photo and video content across Google products. Users have already been informed about the removal of Google Album Archive through mail. However, Google has recommended some measures to save the images before they are deleted permanently.

"You have received this email because you have recently viewed the Album Archive or you may have some content visible in the Album Archive," read the official email sent to users by Google ahead of the closure of this feature.

Earlier, Google also suggested that users can use 'Google Takeout' to download a copy of Album Archive data before July 19.

What is album archive? Which data will exactly be deleted?

Album Archive was a space that allowed users to store data from Blogger, Picasa, and Hangouts, where one could find thumbnail photos, and later that was replaced with Google Photos. According to an announcement made by Google on its official website, rare cases like small thumbnail photos and comments or albums will be deleted. Apart from this, some Google Hangouts data from the Album Archive will also be removed, and background images uploaded to the Gmail theme picker before 2018 will also no longer be visible starting from July 19, 2023.

Follow these steps to download Album Archive data:

Step 1: Users first need to go to takeout.google.com.

Step 2: Then, log in with the same Google account with which you want to download the data.

Step 3: After logging in, tap on "Deselect All" at the top.

Step 4: Click on the checkbox in front of the Album Archive.

Step 5: Scroll down and click on the Next Step button.

Step 6: Select the way you want to receive the download link: email, add data to Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or Box.

Step 7: Click on the export button.
