Google to launch ‘Circle to Search’ on Chrome for web – Here's how it will work
Through this tool, users can quickly acquire relevant search results by circling an object or phrase present in a photo or screenshot.
The popular tech firm Google aims to improve the user experience continuously. This time, the tech giant has decided to launch its latest innovative feature known as Circle to Search on its Chrome browser. This tool was earlier accessible on a few selected smartphones. The Circle to Search feature allows users to perform image-based searches simply. Through this tool, users can quickly acquire relevant search results by circling an object or phrase present in a photo or screenshot. Now, Google is offering this tool to desktop users via its Chrome browser.
The ‘Circle to Search’ tool was released for iOS devices. It was earlier launched with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, signifying its ability to transform users’ interaction with data. Then the company extended its competence to more Android smartphones and included a shortcut called Google Lens for iPhone users. However, the tech giant is now introducing this feature to Chrome for Windows and macOS to make visual search more available to a larger user base. This modification goes with the company’s aim to provide smooth and open user experiences across all platforms.
As per a report, Google has unveiled another new tool known as ‘Drag to Search’ on 127 and 128 beta versions of Chrome for desktops and Chromebooks. It appears as a Google Lens icon in the address bar, located next to the bookmarks tab. People can enable this too by easily tapping on the icon, that will land users on to a new window showing that they can continue to search for anything on this page with Google Lens. Then a custom option window pops up, that needs to be dragged to search for anything on the web. The user interface of this tool is similar to that of the Android platform, with gleaming exteriors on the selection window’s edges. Google says that a screenshot of the page is delivered to the firm when a user uses new tools of Google Lens. However, the tool is believed to be an experimental one as it is only available on the beta version of the web browser.
