Search engine giant Google has officially rolled out the latest Android version - Android Q. The beta version of this operating system is now available for download on select devices and will soon be made available on other devices too. The OS is still in testing phase and might have some bugs. But, these issues will be addressed when the final version is rolled out. To get the operating system, users will have to register for it. Both users and developers will have an option to test Android Q beta on their devices and provide a feedback to Google. This feedback will be used to identify and fix problems.

As heartbreaking as it may sound, the beta version has only been rolled out for Pixel devices, as of now. All three generations of the Pixel phones - original Pixel, Pixel 2 series and Pixel 3 - are eligible for it. However, Google could expand the beta version to other smartphones too.

How to install Android Q beta?

To get Android beta, users will have to go the official website of Android - google.com/android/beta. It will show the list of devices eligible to get the operating system. Tap on the Opt symbol to get it. The users need to make sure that they are using the same Google account on their phone and on desktop for the option to be reflected. 

24 hours after enrolling, they should check for the update by visiting - Settings > System > Advanced > System updates.

Things to keep in mind

The users are advised to back up all their data before installing Android Q beta. Since this is just the beta version, there could be some errors and defects. Also, Google has warned its users that they will not be able to unenroll and revert back to a lower public release version of Android without first wiping all locally saved data on the device.
