The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in terms of specifications is similar to the Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, if not better.

Google on Wednesday official launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. The company's second generation of the Pixel smartphones will be available from October 19 and comes at starting price of $649 (around Rs 42,000) for the base model, while the high-end version starts at $849 (around Rs 55,000).
The launch of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones will see Google once again take on the might of big players in the premium smartphone market such as Apple and Samsung. So how does Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL fare against the Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
So let us take a look at how the Google Pixel 2 and the Google Pixel 2 XL performs against the others in terms of its specifications.
The Google Pixel 2 comes with a 6 inch display which is much larger than the Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, 8 Plus and even the Samsung Galaxy S8. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and the Galaxy Note 8 are the only smartphones with a bigger displays with a 6.2 inch and 6.3 inch display.
In terms of the processor the Samsung Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and the Google Note 8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus come with the same Snapdragon 835 2.35GHz plus 1.9GHz octa-core processor.
The Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, 8 Plus come with their own A11 bionic processor which is on the same level as the Snapdragon processor.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with a 4GB RAM, which is the same in the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus. However, the Galaxy Note 8 comes with a higher 6GB RAM.
The Apple iPhones, on the other hand, comes with a much lower RAM as the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 Plus come with a 3GB RAM and the iPhone 8 comes with a 2GB RAM.
In terms of the storage, the Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL basic variant comes with a 64GB internal storage, the same as all the variants of the latest iPhone and the Galaxy.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also comes with a 128GB internal storage variant, so does the Galaxy Note 8.
Only the Apple iPhones and the Galaxy Note 8 comes with a higher internal storage variant of 256GB.
In terms of the camera, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with a higher 12.2 megapixel rear camera. However, it does not have a dual camera setup such as the Apple iPhone X and the iPhone 8 Plus, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphones which come with a two 12 megapixel dual rear cameras. All the other come with a single 12 megapixel rear camera.
The front camera of the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL comes with a 8 megapixel camera. The Samsung Galaxy smartphones too comes with the same 8 megapixel camera.
The Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus comes with lower 7 megapixel front camera.
In terms of the battery capacity the Google Pixel 2 smartphone have the highest capacity than the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
The battery capacity of the Google Pixel 2 XL comes with a 3520mAh battery capacity. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus comes closest with a 3500mAh battery.
The Pixel 2 also has a good 2700mAh battery. The iPhone X comes with a 2716mAh battery, the iPhone 8 comes with a 1821mAh battery and the iPhone 8 Plus comes with a 2675mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 8 comes with a 3300mAh battery and the Galaxy S8 with a 3000mAh battery.
The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL come with a IP67 water resistance, the same as all the Apple iPhones. Only the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones and Note 8 comes with a higher IP68 water resistance.
In terms of the pricing the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are priced a little lower in comparison to its competitors.
The Pixel 2 XL is priced at $849, while the iPhone X is priced at $999 and Galaxy Note 8 at $930.
The Pixel 2 is priced at $649, while the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is priced at $699 and $799, respectively. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus is priced at $749 and $849, respectively.
In India too the prices of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to be competitively priced.
Overall in terms of specifications the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is similar to the latest Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 smartphones. Google has also competitively prices the smartphones so that it eats into the market share of both these two top runners in the segment.
