Google Meet gets major update: Users can automatically transcribe and record meetings - Check Details
The latest update will come in handy for professionals who largely depend on video conferencing for their work and sometimes miss recording the meeting.
Google Meet has introduced a major update aimed at simplifying virtual meetings by allowing users to automatically transcribe and record sessions. The new feature ensures that all crucial details are efficiently recorded, eliminating the reliance on manual note taking. The update is expected to be rolled out to Google Workspace users soon; however, the feature will need to be enabled by administrators first.
The update brings three significant settings, including the automatic transcription of all meetings, giving users the written records of everything discussed in the meeting. It also allows users to automatically record meetings, ensuring that both the audio and visual content are archived. Notably, participants have the option to opt-out if they prefer not to record meetings.
Additionally, Workspace accounts equipped with the Gemini App add-on will gain an extra feature. Google Meet’s note-taking feature will be able to automatically summarise the meetings by capturing key points for easy reference. This feature enables users to quickly review important discussions without needing to go through lengthy transcripts or long recordings.

Recently, Google also launched another feature called ‘Switch Here’, which allows users to switch devices while on the call.
In other developments related to Google, the tech giant expanded the availability of Gemini Live to all Android users. It is a two-way voice feature for the Gemini AI chatbot, previously available to only Gemini Advanced users with a Google One AI Premium subscription. This step will allow all Android users to engage in voice conversations with the AI.
Android users with the Gemini app will get a waveform icon at the bottom right of the screen, next to the microphone and camera icons. To use the two-way communication, users are required to tap on the icon, which will activate Gemini Live.
