Google Maps Update: In recent times, Google Maps has been continuously evolving. In its bid to enhance the user experience, Google Maps is set to get smoother, with a redesigned interface while replacing the traditional full-screen menus with a sheet-based design. The newer design features a fresh design having more rounded edges and keeps the map in view at all times.
Google Maps: New features
The sheet-based design ensures a more prominent display of the map throughout the app while putting greater emphasis on the background layer. This change enables Google Maps to offer contextual navigation, making a sleeker profile.
Google Maps: Enhancing the user experience
The new design seeks to maintain map visibility, ensuring a simplified interaction with the users and offering information with more clarity. Users will be able to access information, along with a view of the map, such as routes, landmarks, and locations. Previously, users had to move back and forth to access the info, which in turn complicated the map view. Moreover, the fresh design is equipped with quick access functionality, allowing users to go to the frequently used options, including selection of transportation mode or variations in the route.
The new design will also underscore important information, including journey details, such as departure and arrival points, within the simplified interface or sheets. As per the travel experience, it will prioritize the most significant navigation information, which will effectively streamline the travel experience.
Earlier in February, the sheet-based design was put to the test and had to be pulled back for further refinement. The latest design is being made available to Android users, while iOS version is yet to be released
In other news related to Google, the American tech giant confirmed the addition of a speedometer on iOS and CarPlay. Additionally, Google Maps is globallyintroducing speed limit indicators for the road being travelled.
