The popular browser Google Chrome is getting a new feature that will allow users to check the trustworthiness of any website. According to a social media post on X, Google is working on a new AI-powered feature for Chrome called “Store reviews”. The feature will provide users a summary of reviews from independent websites such as Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, and more.

The latest feature will be accessed from the site settings button, located to the left of the URL in the address bar. The functionality still seems to be under development as clicking on it opens a blank floating panel along with a text at the bottom that says Chrome will use AI in order to generate a summary of the website’s reputation from platforms like Scam Advisor, Trust Pilot, Google, and others.

The feature will be especially useful for users visiting an unknown or new website and seeking to assess its credibility. This feature will ease the complicated process of going through multiple review websites to understand the website’s overall reputation, ultimately saving a considerable amount of time.

In addition to this, Google is also introducing a slew of AI features, including AI-powered protection. This feature will provide real-time protection against websites that can be potentially dangerous and downloaded files as well.

In other related developments, Google is slated to update its location data storing policy in the upcoming weeks. Users will be enabled to block the company from tracking their movements. Google says that all the Maps data stored in the cloud will be erased if users seek to do so. Users will also be able to store their private data on their devices, which offers better security than storing it in the cloud. According to Google, Maps data will not be backed up in the upcoming weeks and users will be subsequently notified about this change.
