Tech giant Facebook has launched Fundraisers service in India, allowing users to raise money for charitable endeavours on the social media platform.
Tech giant Facebook has launched Fundraisers service in India, allowing users to raise money for charitable endeavours on the social media platform. The feature allows users to create fundraisers for more than 70 charities including Goonj, The Akshayapatra Foundation and Helpage India. These funds will be facilitated by Razorpay. Facebook said that it will cover the processing fee and the entire amount donated will go to the charities.
Anyone can set up a dedicated page for a cause, and rally others around a fundraising goal.
Here’s how you can raise funds and donate to the cause that resonates with you the most:
For Desktop
To create a fundraiser for a charitable organization follow these steps:
- Click Fundraisers in the left menu of your News Feed under Explore section
- Click + Raise Money
- Select Nonprofit/Charity
- Select a charitable organization, choose a cover photo and fill in the fundraiser details
- Click Create
For Smartphones
To create a fundraiser for a charitable organization follow these steps:
- On the Facebook app, tap
- Scroll down, tap on See More and tap Fundraisers.
- Tap +Create Fundraiser or Raise Money
- Select Nonprofit
- Select a charitable organization and fill in details for your fundraiser.
- Tap Create

This announcement comes on the back of the company’s continued efforts to increase access to accurate information, reduce the spread of misinformation and support local businesses and communities.
The service is already available in the US and in Europe among other markets. Facebook claimed that since 2015, people around the globe have raised over $3 billion using the service.
