UPI: CRED launches RuPay credit card-based payments; a step-by-step guide to use it

Online payment platform CRED in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched RuPay credit card-based Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments for its members. This step is aimed at augmenting consumption and inclusivity in the credit sector, offering benefits to banks and merchants alike.
Expanding reach across major banks
As part of this move, CRED now supports RuPay credit cards from an array of major banks.
These include HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, BOB Financial Solutions, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Union Bank. This expanded reach empowers members to harness their RuPay credit cards for payments via UPI.
As of now, CRED has extended support for RuPay credit cards issued by HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Union Bank.
The innovative credit-on-UPI feature empowers CRED members to harness their RuPay credit cards for payments. Consequently, members can conduct payments to businesses or merchants by scanning any accessible UPI QR code, facilitated by linking their RuPay credit card to their UPI.
A simple activation process
Activating the UPI service on credit cards is a simple process.
- Launch the CRED app on your device.
- Look for the 'settings' option located at the top right corner of the app homepage and select it.
- From the options provided, choose 'UPI settings'.
- Tap on 'activate UPI on your credit cards'.
- Enter the last six digits of your RuPay card followed by the card's expiry date.
- Authenticate your mobile number when prompted.
- Finally, set up your UPI PIN for using the RuPay card. This completes the activation process, and you're now ready to make payments via UPI with your RuPay credit card.
