The recent social media policy that has sparked a huge debate on the Internet for the right reasons is useful in many regards. The sections in the policy when implemented will create a balance in the content that the public consumes. It also safeguards the right to expression.
Content on the Internet is so readily available that sometimes one fears that it might have an adverse impact on the young and naive children. Staying abreast with recent information is one thing but falling prey to uncensored content is a totally different thing. The new media policy brings a sigh of relief for parents and educators.
Piyush Singh Chauhan gives his unconditional support to the new IT and social media policy. Piyush is the Vice Chairman of SR Group of Institutions and handles operations of both SR College and School. Piyush is also the CEO of Round O' Clock Retails Pvt. Ltd. which is an innovative experiment retail outlet garnering a turnover of 100 crore. It specialises in 24/7/365 service.
Piyush believes that this policy was long overdue because of the recklessness and irresponsibility that is on display by some platforms.
Piyush Singh Chauhan mentioned, "I am strongly in favor of this policy and hope to see it being implemented soon. I believe that since a lot of learning has gone online, almost every student has a smartphone and an Internet connection which gives them access to a lot of unfiltered content which in the long run can adversely affect their thinking and mindset. So a filter on the content is a must to protect the mind of the child. This policy is in favour of selective content for children and that's a good thing. There's only so much that a child can take."
Piyush further stated, "At our school and college we make sure that a student's mind is cultivated to nurture the right things. And this policy will be an extension of our thoughts. We have to take such steps to make sure that every child is exposed to good content online. The world is going online, I agree, but it should not affect a student. I'm thankful to the government for introducing such a step. It's in everyone's favour."

The new policy has tried to create a very needed level playing field between the online news platform and the television news platform. It has also brought the online news outlets under the regulations of print media to regulate the flow of information. A step much required!
