Nowadays, people have a tendency to share everything from their social media handles, be it Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram. However, if one is thinking of sharing the COVID-19 vaccination certificate or already has posted the vaccination certificate on social media, it might invite troubles. In fact, the government is also warning everyone to refrain from posting the COVID-19 vaccination certificate on social media.

Cyber Dost which is a cyber-safety and cybersecurity awareness Twitter handle maintained by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has recently tweeted, "Beware of sharing #vaccination certificate on social media."

 

Notably, a COVID-19 vaccination contains certain personal details of an individual including name, date of birth, vaccine details, age, gender, and much more. As a result, sharing a COVID-19 vaccination certificate on social media that contains so many personal details is not right and can be used by fraudsters. The tweet further notes, "COVID-19 vaccination certificate contains your name and other personal details. Avoid sharing your vaccination certificate on social media platforms as it may be misused by cyber fraudsters to defraud you."

At present, the COVID-19 vaccination drive is going on in the country. As on May 28, 2021, 20.57 crore of COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). In order to schedule a vaccination appointment, one has to login to the CoWIN portal at cowin.gov.in from where one will be able to register and book a slot to get the vaccination shots.

After an individual receives both the COVID-19 vaccine shots, one needs to download the COVID-19 vaccination certificate by following some simple steps. They are as follows:

Step 1: On has to login to the CoWIN portal at cowin.gov.in

Step 2: One has to enter the registration number after which one will receive an  OTP in the mobile

Step 3: Then one will get the option to download the COVID-19 vaccination certificate following which one needs to download the certificate and keep it for any future reference
