Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5 - the popular smartphones of  Xiaomi which were launched back in April 2016 - will get no further software updates. As per an announcement on Xiaomi's official forum, there will be no global beta update for Mi 5 & Redmi Note 3 (Redmi Note 3 Pro in China) after the release of the final software in the form of MIUI 10.2 for the two phones.

The last MIUI update of  Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5  are expected to be in January 2019 and thereafter the beta team for Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 Pro will be disbanded.

The final software update in the form of these two smartphones is MIUI 10.2

Mi followers are disappointed by this decision and showed their disappointment on the comment section on MIUI Forum.

Key features of  Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 3:

Redmi 5 which features 5.7-inch display and 1440 x 720 pixels resolution, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM variants, 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash along with a 5MP front-facing camera with Beautify 3.0 capabilities and LED flash.

The device's connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with a 3300mAh battery.

Redmi Note 3 is powered by hexa-core (4x1.4GHz + 4x1.8GHz) processor and it comes with 2GB of RAM. The phone packs 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 packs a 16-megapixel (f/2.0) primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is powered by a 4050mAh non-removable battery. It measures 150.00 x 76.00 x 8.65 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 164.00 grams.
