Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched its innovation contest ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ on the 5th death anniversary of former President and noted scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched its innovation contest ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ on the 5th death anniversary of former President and noted scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The scheme is being launched for emerging technologies to promote the individuals and startups for innovation in defence and aerospace technologies in the country after the call of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per a statement by Ministry of Electronics and IT.
‘Dare to Dream 2.0’
The ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ is an open challenge to promote the innovators and startups of the country. The winners will be decided after due evaluation by an expert committee. Award money, up to Rs 10 lakh for startup and Rs five lakh to individual category, will be given to the winners.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his happiness to announce the contest for the ''Ignited Minds'', whether innovators or start-ups, the ministry said.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
Noted scientist Kalam is known as the "missile man" as he was part of many successful projects for development of ballistic missiles and satellite launch vehicle technology during his lifetime. The former president was a nuclear scientist, writer, poet and educationist,who had excelled in different fields. Kalam died on July 27, 2015, aged 83, due to cardiac arrest while giving a lecture at Shillong''s Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
He was conferred with the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to nuclear science and came to be known as the people's president.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi had announced a contest and called upon one and all to participate in the “My Life – My Yoga”(also called “Jeevan Yoga”) Video Blogging Contest. The contest had gone live on the social media handles of the Ministry of AYUSH from 31 May 2020. The contest is aimed at encouraging the people to practice Yoga at their homes, with participation from the entire family. Through the My Life – My Yoga video blogging competition, the Ministry of AYUSH and ICCR seek to raise awareness about Yoga and to inspire people to prepare for and become active participants in the observation of IDY 2020.
