Taiwanese company Asus is expected to launch its latest flagship smartphone Zenfone 5z in India on July 4. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, the new phone will be available through Flipkart. Asus Zenfone 5z was announced globally at MWC 2018, but now the information has come through Flipkart, revealing about the launch date of the new device through a teaser on its page.

Asus recently launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1, which is also being sold exclusively on Flipkart. The partnership has helped the Taiwanese firm to keep the prices competitive, in order to take on Xiaomi and Honor phones in the market, said a BGR report.

The Asus Zenfone 5z is reportedly meant to compete in the sub-Rs 40,000 price range against OnePlus 6 and Honor 10. Notably, Honor 10 is also sold on Flipkart, but OnePlus 6 is sold through Amazon India.

The new device is already available in a few markets with a price tag of €479, which translates into Rs 38,000. The price tag shows that it will compete with the likes of OnePlus 6, and Honor 10 among others. Online availability reportedly state that Asus has changed its brand strategy to take on the ‘affordable flagship’ segment.

According to the report, the Asus Zenfone 5z was unveiled at the MWC alongwith Zenfone 5 (2018), and Zenfone 5 Lite, but so far hasn’t launched any of these smartphones in India. That way, Zenfone 5z is likely to be the first in India.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Zenfone 5z reportedly sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ edge-to-edge notched screen, and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. The phone's internal storage can be extended up to 256GB but that will be on offer.

For photography, Asus boasts of a dual-camera at the back that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with large 1.4-micron pixels, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor that allows 120-degree wide-angle shooting and portrait mode shots, the BGR report said.
