Who wouldn't want quick money, right? And, tech giant Apple is offering you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to earn a staggering $1 million. All you need to do is hack an Apple iPhone. Yes, you read it right! The tech giant has announced a reward of $1 million to anyone who manages to hack into their iPhones and explain the company how they did it. The announcement was made by Apple at the annual Black Hat hacker convention in Las Vegas last week. 

This is the biggest ever payout announcement by the tech giant. However, the hackers need to know that the prize money will be given only for specific hack. This means that the hackers will have to explain how they gained remote access to the core of the iOS software without needing the original user interaction.

The announcement was made by Apple head of security Ivan Krstic at the Black Hat conference, which was held between August 03 and August 08 in Las Vegas.

Earlier in 2016, the company had announced a bug bounty programme with rewards up to $200,000 for finding vulnerabilities on the iOS platform which would let an attacker gain full control of the device, without needing the user’s consent. This year, the company has expanded the programme to all Apple’s platforms such as iOS, iCloud, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS andwatchOS. Also, the $1 million reward is five times what the company had announced in 2016.

Apart from the big prize money, the company is also offering smaller rewards up to $500,000. This is for those who are able to discover other vulnerabilities such as bypassing iPhone’s lock screen while having physical access to the device. The company will pay these hackers $100,000. Those will be able to do a kernel code execution through a user-installed app can get up to $150,000.

The iPhone-maker will also began offering a 50 percent bonus for bugs discovered in Apple’s pre-release builds.

The announcement comes as Apple is gearing to launch its new series of iPhones in September. It has recently been reported that the company might launch its first-ever iPhone with a Pro in its name. The rumor comes from CoinX, which was the first to leak the names of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The account also said that the headphone jack was removed from the 2018 iPad Pro models, among other things, further proving its reliability.
