Apple iOS 17.6.1 for iPhone: Upgrades bring ‘essential bug fixes’
The company states that the new upgrades come with important bug fixes alongside a solution for a problem linked to Advanced Data Protection.
US-based technology giant Apple has launched iOS 17.6.1 for iPhone users and iPadOS 17.6.1 for iPad users. The company states that the new upgrades come with important bug fixes alongside a solution for a problem linked to Advanced Data Protection. Here are some important details regarding the new upgrades.
New upgrades and its components will prevent activating and deactivating Advanced Data Protection, which is an elective tool that widens end-to-end encryption to various additional iCloud services such as Messages backups, Photos, and iCloud device backups. Apple claims that the Advanced Data Protection bug in iOS 17.6 impacted a few number of iPhone users.
If a user tried to enable Advanced Data Protection and the attempt failed, a clear error message appeared hence they were notified about the unsuccessful change, similarly if a user tried to deactivate the feature, the interface highlighted that the feature was disabled, however, the feature was still enabled on iCloud. Now, after installing iOS 17.6.1 and macOS 14.6.1, users will be directed to go to Settings and authenticate that they still want to deactivate Advanced Data Protection. It will ensure more security for users who have been affected by this bug.
The iOS 17.6 update, which was unveiled last month was an insignificant update for iPhone, which had a couple of bug fixes and security enhancements. It also launched a new “Catch Up” tool in the TV app, which utilizes machine learning to produce a variety of clips of highlights for MLS matches. Experts say that users can get confused by the iOS 18 and iOS 18.1 beta cycles, but it is essential to know that a huge majority of iPhone users are still using iOS 17.
Now, users can upgrade their Apple iOS 17-supported devices to iOS 17.6.1 by going to the Settings app, selecting General, and then clicking on Software Update. Apple has also unveiled iOS 16.7.10 update with build number 20H350 including bug fixes and other enhancements for older iPhone handsets. Alongside these upgrades for iPhone and iPad users, Apple is also releasing macOS Sonoma 14.6.1.
