Apple iOS 17 complete guide: Release date, supported devices and other details
Apple is yet to confirm the rollout of iOS 17 for the common users.
The wait for iOS 17 may still be long but Apple gave a sneak peek into what to expect from the OS update at the much-awaited WWDC 23 on Monday. The new OS brings upgrades across Phones, FaceTime and Messages. Sharing content and data will get easier with improved AirDrop. iOS 17 also introduces new experiences with Journal, which will also suggest moments that a user might want to commemorate in a journal entry. Then there’s a new mode called StandBy, to be used while charging a device. It turns the screen into a status display with the date and time. It will feature information from Live Activities, widgets, and smart stacks, and automatically turns on when the phone is in landscape mode while charging.
Apple has introduced redesigned contact cards, voicemail and videomail on missed Facetime calls. The new iOS also presents a new feature called posters, allowing users to display contact pictures and information full screen in case of an incoming call.
The iOS 17 gets a 'Check-In' feature, meant for people to check in on their friends and family when they are travelling somewhere. This sticker lets your loved ones know that you have reached. In case of any delay in the journey, the sticker will send a prompt.
With the new iOS, Apple has announced transcriptions of voice messages. Users will be able to share live locations with their contacts, a feature already available on WhatsApp. The stickers available on iMessage are also set to get an overhaul, with the ability to add any emoji or photo cutout as a “sticker”.
