The company reportedly partnered with Qualcomm last month and is expected to use the Snapdragon XR2 platform for its AjnaXR headset, which was first announced in January this year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023.

Earlier, Apple made its grand entry into the mixed-reality landscape with the launch of Vision Pro at the WWDC 2023 conference. With this, Apple locked horns with tech behemoths like Meta and Microsoft that are already established in the rapidly growing AR/VR sector.

The Vision Pro comes with a suite of groundbreaking features and design characteristics that set it apart from the competition. Its starting price of $3,500 suggests that Apple is targeting a high-end niche in the AR/VR industry. Set for a release in the first part of 2024, the Vision Pro is the first step in Apple's stride into the VR/AR realm.

Incorporating both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) capabilities, the Vision Pro qualifies as a "mixed-reality headset". It offers a crisp 4K resolution for each eye and is powered by the novel visionOS. Interestingly, Apple has opted out of controllers for this device; the Vision Pro uses hand tracking and voice commands for user interactions. The device will run on an advanced dual M2 and R1 chip setup, guaranteeing top-tier performance.
