5G Service: High-speed 5G service was first launched in October last year. Since then, leading telecom companies like Airtel and Jio have rolled out 5G services in several cities. Now, Reliance Jio has rolled out 5G service in 20 cities across 11 states and Union Territories (UTs) of the country. With this, Jio has launched 5G services in 277 cities.

According to the company, these cities where 5G services have been rolled out are important tourism and commerce destinations as well as key education hubs of our country. 

"With the launch of Jio's True 5G services, consumers of the region will not just get the best telecommunication network but will also get infinite growth opportunities in the areas of e-governance, education, automation, artificial intelligence, gaming, healthcare, agriculture, IT, and SMEs," the company was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

It is worth mentioning that spectrum allocation letters were issued by the government in August 2022. Department of Telecom had received total bids worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore from the 5G spectrum auction.

For the uninitiated, 5G is the fifth-generation mobile network. It is capable of transmitting a large data set at a very rapid speed.

When compared to 3G and 4G, 5G has very low latency and therefore enhances user experiences in various sectors.
