Xiaomi 12S Ultra confirmed to launch with Sony IMX989 sensor ahead of launch on July 4
Xiaomis new 12S series has been co-developed by the German camera company, Leica. This is the first time Xiaomi has co-developed phones with a camera company.
Xiaomi is all set to launch the Xiaomi 12S Ultra flagship smartphone on July 4. Now, ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed that the the flagship smartphone will come with a 1-inch type sensor co-developed by Sony. This sensor size is used in the company’s new Sony IMX989 sensor.
"#Xiaomi12SUltra will feature the Sony IMX989, Sony's largest image sensor. This sensor helps boost focus speed and allows for better dynamic range. More information to be released at #Xiaomi12SSeriesLaunch on July 4th, 19:00 (GMT+8)," Xiaomi India wrote on Twitter.
In related news, Xiaomi recently announced that it will be launching three new flagship phones -- the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra on July 4. Lei Jun, Found and CEO of Xiaomi, took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: "After so much hard work, we can finally share our latest innovation, Xiaomi smartphones co-engineered with Leica, ushering in a new era in imagery technology. Looking forward to sharing more at the #Xiaomi12SSeriesLaunch on July 4, 19:00 GMT+8!."
Xiaomi is releasing teasers of the Xiaomi 12S smartphone with a big camera lens, which is most likely to be part of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra smartphone. The brand recently confirmed its partnership with Leica for its smartphone cameras. This Xiaomi device will be the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the market. Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
According to leaked reports, Xiaomi 12S Ultra might come with QHD+ AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate and features an LTPO panel. It is expected to use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen+ 1 chipset which is likely to come paired with 12GB RAM and offer 512GB storage.
Xiaomi focuses on creating the ultimate user experience and has always hoped to explore the capabilities of smartphone photography to the extreme.
