Huawei on Thursday evening launched its new Mate 40 lineup, which includes the more “affordable” Mate 40, along with the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro Plus. Soon after the launch, camera site DxOMark released their review for the Mate 40 Pro. With a final score of 136 points, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is now the highest rated smartphone on DxOMark’s ranking system. This makes it the best camera smartphone in the world, at least on paper.
The Mate 40 Pro features a quad rear camera setup that includes a 50 MP primary sensor, a 20 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12 MP periscope lens and a 3D depth sensor. On the other hand, Mate 40 Pro+ comes also comes with a quad-camera setup that houses a 50 MP primary sensor, a 12 MP telephoto lens, a 20 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12 MP telephoto lens.
It has a final DxOMark score of 136 points. This score is a combination of phone’s performance for photo and video. For photos, the smartphone got a score of 140 points while for Video, it got 116 points. The Mate 40 Pro also scored 88 points in the newly introduced Zoom metric, which tests the zoom capabilities of the smartphone.
Unfortunately, we may not get this smartphone in India - ever. Huawei is unable to use Google services on its smartphones and hasn’t been launching too many smartphones in the country. Even the Mate 40 line up has been launched just in China and few other markets. There is no word on whether if or when the phone will come to India.
As far as the specs go, both Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ come with a 6.76-inch 2K curved OLED display that has a resolution of 2772×1344 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. Both models are powered by Kirin 9000 5G chipset. Huawei Mate 40 Pro offers 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage whereas Mate 40 Pro+ comes with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage.
