With the launch of two new foldable smartphones - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G, the smartphone brand did manage to create a big buzz around it.

The brand recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G - top-class foldable mobile phones in India. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is priced at Rs 84,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant and at Rs 88,999 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is available in Phantom Black and Cream color options. I reviewed the (8GB RAM/256GB ) Phantom, Black color model, for more than two weeks, and ​here's what I have to say about this premium foldable smartphone from Samsung. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 features a glass screen made of foldable glass, has a unique style and is certainly a more practical smartphone due to its reasonable price tag.

In terms of design and outlook, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, we have entered the third generation of foldable smartphones and it is clearly visible in the form factor. The company has done exceptional work on making the smartphone really compact. One big change you will find is on the back of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the size of the cover display. Also, the rear side of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while the inner screen has a flexible display. The good thing about this flagship foldable smartphone from Samsung, the back panel rarely attracts fingerprints - thanks to the matte finish. The phone is extremely lightweight, comfortable, and easy to hold. You can easily fold the device, hold it in hand for long hours and you can keep it in the shit pocket without any discomfort.  There’s a hole-punch camera cutout on the inner display, while the rear panel has two vertically-aligned cameras. Overall, the looks of this foldable smartphone are really premium and appealing. It will definitely attract buyers' attention.

On the right side, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a volume rocker and power button which also works as a fingerprint scanner. On the left edge, you will find the SIM tray option. At the bottom, there's a USB Type-C port, speaker, and mic. You will find a microphone on the top. The connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 include Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v5.1, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BeiDou and 5G technologies. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G also comes with sensors such as Accelerometer, Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and more.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with a 6.7-inch primary full HD Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a resolution of 2640x1080 pixels. The South Korean tech giant has also made the cover screen larger – it's now 1.9 inches in size instead of 1.1 inches and can show more content as a result.  The outer display on the device is definitely helpful for checking notifications, settings alarms, controlling media, and more. Thanks to the major upgrade on the cover display. Now you can reply to messages on the outer display with Bixby voice commands. Another big thing about the outer display is that you can take selfies and check photos. It can also be used to check previews before taking selfies on the rear cameras. The main display of the device is superior and larger than the previous generation Flip phones. Thanks to the AMOLED display, you will not face any trouble in bright sunlight even the secondary display is comfortable enough to view notifications. Overall, both main and cover display works very well and the main offers a great viewing and gaming experience.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 features a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS and a 12 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide snapper with a 123-degree field of view. On the front, the device features a 10-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture to capture selfies, embedded inside of the folding display.  The rear camera setup is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass protection and it offers up to 10x digital zoom, HDR10+ recording, and auto-focus tracking feature. During the review period, and I found that pictures that came out in different light conditions were brilliant. The device captured sharp, high-resolution images and detailed images even in low light conditions. Even the selfie camera did manage to capture and sharp and colorful selfies during the shoot. In fact, the video quality of the device was also up to the mark.

In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, making the device suitable for heavy use. This processor is coupled with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage space. It runs on Android 11-based OneUI 3.0. While playing games like Garena Free Fire, Battlegrounds Mobile India, and Call of Duty: Mobile on this device, we enjoyed lag-free gaming. The graphic quality on the advanced setting was up to the mark. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was fast, smooth, switching between the apps and using multiple social media platforms was easy and the experience was up to the mark. Audio performance is a big plus here if you plan to buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. The bottom speaker did produce high-quality sound while playing games and watching videos.

In terms of battery performance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with only a 3,300mAh dual-cell battery with support for 15W fast charging and is compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0. The device also comes with support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. On less than normal usage, the device lasted for a day on a full charge. While watching videos on YouTube, movies, web series on OTT platforms on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 during the review period, we did not face any heating issues however the battery life is not good on this phone and the battery drained quickly on heavy usage and during heavy gaming sessions.  

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Verdict: Available at the starting price of 84,999, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a true flagship and affordable foldable smartphone. The device offers a beautiful display, camera performance, and premium design. For those who are looking for a true premium experience in Android, this foldable mobile phone from Samsung won't disappoint you. With the unique and attractive foldable design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is definitely a good choice for premium smartphone buyers in India.
