Lava takes on Redmi 12, launches Yuva 2 with glass back finish at Rs 6,999

In a bid to take on Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, homegrown brand Lava has launched Yuva 2 smartphone with a glass back finish. The announcement comes just a day after Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 Series with a glass design at starting price of Rs 8,999. With the launch of Yuva 2, Lava has further expanded its presence in the budget segment. Lava Yuva 2 comes with a ‘SINK’ Display philosophy to provide a high screen-to-body ratio. Lava Yuva 2 is available in three colour options - Glass Blue, Glass Lavender, and Glass Green.

Lava Yuva 2 has been priced at Rs 6,999. The smartphone features a Unisoc T606 OctaCore Processor with 3GB RAM with UFS 2.2 compliant 64GB ROM, which is expandable by an additional 3GB of virtual RAM.
The smartphone's display offers a 90Hz refresh rate along with lower bezels. Also, it features a 13 MP Dual AI Rear Camera and 5MP front camera with screen flash. It also gets a side fingerprint scanner, anonymous auto-call recording and dual microphones for noise cancellation.

Lava Yuva 2 has a 5,000 mAh battery and comes with a Type-C 10W charger.
Yuva 2 currently runs on Android 12 and the good thing is that it offers a clean and bloatware-free Android experience. The company has promised one Android upgrade and quarterly security updates for a period of two years. Lava is also promising a ‘free service at home’ to all customers within the phone's warranty period.
On the other hand, Redmi 12 comes with an AdaptiveSync display that offers a resolution of 2460x1080, 550nits of peak brightness and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The smartphone comes with a 91 per cent screen-to-body ratio and a 12x17mm loudspeaker. The smartphone has an IP53 rating and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster. The smartphone is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with a 22.5W in-box charger.
