Beta testers have access to this feature and can share voice notes as status updates.

Users will have more control over their voice recording as the feature will allow them to discard a record before sharing it.

It is to be noted that users can record a voice note of up to 30 seconds for now. Users will have to update their version of WhatsApp in order to listen to voice notes shared via status.

The messaging app has confirmed that voice notes shared on status updates will be end-to-end encrypted. This will make sure that only the people users choose within their privacy settings can listen to them.

Just like images and videos shared on status disappear after 24 hours, the voice notes will too disappear.

Also, just like other statuses, users will have the option to delete voice notes for everyone after posting them. Reports suggest that the new feature will be rolled out to more users over the coming weeks.
