WhatsApp to soon automatically mute large group chats for THESE users - All you need to know

WhatsApp update: The Meta-owned popular instant messaging application WhatsApp is reportedly releasing the ability to automatically mute large group chats to help reduce notifications. The ability to automatically mute large group chats to help reduce notifications has been released to some beta testers and it is rolling out to more users over the coming days.

As per a report by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, has rolled out a new beta update that brings the new group feature for Android users. Recently, WhatsApp released larger group chats up to 1024 participants last month, so the platform decided to develop a feature that would have automatically muted such groups. 

After 20 days, WhatsApp is releasing this feature to some beta testers that install one of the most updated versions of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Play Store. As per the screenshot shared by the WABetaInfo, an alert shows up by announcing that the group has automatically been muted in order to reduce notifications. 

Since this is a large group, you may receive more notifications than you expect: thanks to this feature, those groups will be automatically muted when they reach a lot of participants. Since you are always in control over your groups and notifications, you can restore notifications for a muted group chat at any time.  

WhatsApp is also testing the edit button for messages for Android users. With the edit button, WhatsApp users will be able to fix their typos after sending their messages. The feature has been spotted in the latest beta version of Android.
