The Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outages might be affecting a larger number of users, Reuters reported. All three services seem to be down in what appears to be a widespread Facebook services outage.

Many users are unable to log in or use the services of these apps. It is a developing story. Further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, thousands of people took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and reacted to this recent development. One user wrote: "People coming over to Twitter because they understand WhatsApp Instagram, Facebook and Telegram are all down."

"Mark Zuckerberg trying to figure out why Facebook WhatsApp and Instagram servers are down!," another user wrote from its Twitter account.
