Twitter blue, Gold and grey verified ticks launch: All you need to know

Twitter verified ticks: Micro-blogging site Twitter is planning to launch new colour coding system for the verified ticks on December 2 (today). Recently, new Twitter CEO Elon Musk revealed about the new verification system. 

On November 29, Musk assured that Twitter will be tentatively launching Verified next week. In the tweet, he said, "Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week." He explained the new colour coding system for the verified ticks. 

Musk wrote on Twitter: "Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates. Painful, but necessary."

In another tweet, he confirmed that individuals will continue to get a Blue checkmark.  "All verified individual humans will have same blue check, as boundary of what constitutes “notable” is otherwise too subjective. Individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org. Longer explanation next week," he said.

Musk had initially tried to roll out the $8 Twitter Blue subscription but he had to roll it back in hours. In related news, Twitter banned 44,611 accounts promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity in India between September 26 and October 25, as Elon Musk took over.

In the earlier period between August 26 and September 25, the company had banned 52,141 such bad accounts in India. The micro-blogging platform, going through a churning under Musk, also took down 4,014 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform in the country.

Twitter, in its monthly report in compliance with the new IT Rules, 2021, said that it received 582 complaints from users in India in the same time-frame through its grievance redressal mechanisms, and took action on just 20 of those URLS.
