Good news for Instagram users across the globe! The Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is planning to bring big updates on its platform. The social media application is now allowing a few users to post longer videos up to 60 seconds on stories.

"As noted by an Instagram user in Turkey, the social networks app is now notifying a few users about the change," 9To5Mac was quoted as saying by the news agency IANS. Currently, if a user records or uploads a video longer than 15 seconds, it automatically gets split into multiple different Stories, the report said.

However, moving up the timer to 60 seconds is not the only new addition. The platform is also using a new interface when creating a story to post. This new interface makes adding elements like the location or tags to other accounts much easier than before.

A recent report, citing anonymous employees, said that Instagram had reached the 2 billion users' figure about a week before Facebook changed its name to Meta in October. The platform has not made its user numbers public since it crossed the one billion monthly active users mark in June 2018.

Also, Instagram has reportedly hit two billion monthly active users, but the photo-sharing platform may not officially disclose these figures as it faces intense scrutiny over its alleged role in damaging the mental health of kids and teenagers, the IANS report said.
