How to shift WhatsApp group to Signal is a query that has come fast and furious ever since the Facebook owned messenger App revealed its privacy policy.  Angry WhatsApp users, including those in India, are moving to the small encrypted messaging app Signal, which is also gaining momentum here due to the controversial update from WhatsApp. However, new Signal users are also facing some difficulties while signing in, which includes moving old WhatsApp groups to Signal.

To solve the problems of new users, Signal took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: "A lot of people have been asking how to move their group chats from other apps to Signal, and Signal group links are a great way to get started. Drop a group link into your former chat app of choice like you're dropping the mic on the way out."

How to shift WhatsApp group to Signal

To move your WhatsApp groups on Signal easily,  the encrypted messaging app came up with four-step method. "First, the users need to create a new group on the Signal app. Second, tap into group settings and then tap 'Group Links'. Third, turn on the group link and tap share and fourth, share in your former messenger of Choice," the Signal app said.

After receiving the group invite link, Signal app users can share it in their previous WhatsApp groups so that other group members can directly join themselves in the newly created Signal group.

Meanwhile, Signal app has also said that their platform will soon start rolling out new Signal features in India. The new Signal features include, chat wallpapers, animated stickers, for iOS-- Media auto-download settings and full-screen profile photos (to match Android).

Earlier, in an announcement, Facebook-owned WhatsApp stated that their users can lose their account if they do not accept the changes. According to the company, WhatsApp's new Terms of Service and privacy policy will come into effect on February 8.
 
"WhatsApp must receive or collect some information to operate, provide, improve, understand, customise, support, and market our Services, including when you install, access, or use our Services," the updated WhatsApp policy reads.
