Soon! YouTube Shorts on smart Android TVs - Here's all you need to know

YouTube Shorts: Google-owned online video sharing and social media platform YouTube is set to launch its short-form video app Shorts on its smart TV platform called YouTube TV. YouTube Shorts has reached 30 billion daily views, and is growing exponentially, an IANS report said. 

"As per Protocol, the company has told its partners about the support for YouTube shorts to YouTube's app for Android TV and Google TV. YouTube TV is also planning to let viewers watch up to four live streams simultaneously via a new feature called "Mosaic Mode, the Report further added.

YouTube isn't the first service to bring short-form vertical videos to the TV screen. TikTok has been experimenting with smart TV interfaces for some time. "YouTube TV will gain something called Mosaic Mode, which will allow subscribers to watch up to four live feeds at the same time by dividing the TV screen into quadrants," said the report. At least one of the new features could arrive in an update "in the coming months."

Earlier, Google had announced that it is adding a new feature to its Meet app to allow users to livestream meetings to its streaming platform YouTube. According to the company, an admin can enable this by navigating to the meeting's Activities panel and selecting "Live Streaming".

Google explained that live streaming "is useful in situations where users want to present information to large audiences outside of their organisation, allowing them to pause and replay as needed, or view the presentation at a later time". There is a channel approval process for live streaming on YouTube. Google warns users to let them know that their channel must be approved to livestream before they can do so through Google Meet.
