Zappfresh that delivers fresh meat and seafood products online has acquired Bonsaro, a Mumbai-based company specializsng in poultry, goat, and seafood online delivery, according to a press note.

Alongwith acquisition, Zappfresh has also increased its footprint in Mumbai, the company said in the press release on Tuesday, August 20.

The startup, which initially launched in Mumbai, has expanded to other major cities in India, positioning itself as a premium player in the meat delivery sector. The company says; with a focus on quality, convenience, and customer satisfaction, Zappfresh aims to meet the growing demand for reliable and fresh meat products in the country. ZappFresh turned profitable two years back, the company said.

The acquisition has marked a significant milestone for Zappfresh, enhancing its brand presence and operational capabilities in the western region. Their plan now for the coming six months is to invest in and build on Bonsaro's existing operations, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience and expanding the product offerings. 

Commenting on the deal, Deepanshu Manchanda, the founder of Zappfresh, said, "Our acquisition of Bonsaro is a pivotal moment for Zappfresh. By integrating Bonsaro into our portfolio, we are poised to build a pan-India brand that operates in key markets. Mumbai, being a critical market, will contribute significantly to our footprint in the west. Our expansion strategy remains disciplined—we expand one city at a time, ensuring profitability without compromising our bottom line. We only venture into new markets once we achieve break-even."

ZappFresh is backed by investors like SIDBI VC, Dabur Family Office, Letsventure, Keritsu Forum, HT and several prominent angels from the food and tech sectors.
