Online meat delivery startup Zappfresh gets Rs 30 crore funding from Ah! Ventures and others
Zappfresh plans to use the newly raised funding for acquisitions, expansions, and infrastructure upgrades in both the North and South markets.
DSM Fresh Foods, which operates direct-to-consumer online meat delivery brand Zappfresh has raised Rs 30 crore (around $4.3 million) funding from a group of investors, the company said on Thursday (November 23). In the round, investors like Ah! Ventures, HT Media, Unity SFB, and Heifer Impact participated.
“Our partnership with Zappfresh, is set to improve the livelihoods of many smallholder women backyard poultry producers in the country, helping them expand their market reach and generate substantial income," said Pranjit Talukdar, representative of Heifer Impact.
Zappfresh plans to use the newly raised funding for acquisitions, expansions, and infrastructure upgrades in both the North and South markets. The company also plans to launch new product lines that will cater to the evolving needs and preferences of the customers, offering them more choices and convenience, as per a press note.
“Our new partners' support will be instrumental in launching a variety of strategic initiatives. This collaboration will not only help us expand our reach but also build more traction in our diverse product portfolio, which includes poultry, goat meat, seafood, and ready-to-eat products. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will unlock, allowing us to serve our customers better and redefine the meat delivery landscape in India," said Deepanshu Manchanda, the founder of Zappfresh.
Zappfresh sells a wide range of meat products like chicken, mutton, seafood, and specialty meats.
In the startup space, most recently, fintech startup Kiwi raised $13 million funding led by Omidyar Network India. In a separate deal, Scapia also raised $23 million funding led by Elevation Capital and Binny Bansal's 3STATE Ventures.
