EV motorcycle startup Raptee receives Rs 3.27 crore in grants from ARAI
Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has given a grant of Rs 3.27 crore to Chennai-based EV motorcycle startup Raptee. The grant was given under AMTIF's (Advance Mobility Transformation & Innovation Foundation) Industry Accelerator program as a part of the Capital Goods Scheme by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. Raptee is among the 10 startups & MSMEs to receive this grant from ARAI.
The funds received by Raptee will be utilised for the development of the design and the motorcycles core high voltage motor controller over the next eighteen months, as the company gears up to launch their first motorcycle later this year.
“We are building a sustainable bike for the future. India is one of the largest 2W markets in the world, however, EV adoption of motorcycles is still at a nascent stage. We are mostly seeing many 2W EV brands driving the market and identified motorcycle consumers as a white space. Our bikes will pack a punch on many fronts and will be led by cutting edge technology which will make the performance at par with current ICE engines run bikes. We are looking forward to launching our range of motorcycles later this year," said Dinesh Arjun, Founder CEO, Raptee, which was started in 2019.
ARAI are the testing and certification agency appointed by the Government of India under the Rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules in the year 1989. ARAI certifies vehicles and components, assuring their safety, efficiency, and reliability. Any automobile to be on Indian roads requires official approval from the ARAI basis, which the state transport authorities register the automobiles in their respective RTOs.
Raptee is currently in production stage to launch its premium E motorcycle later this year. They are on a mission to craft a motorcycle that is more than just an EV; instead, an augmented machine built with an adaptive machine-learning algorithm intuitive, intelligent, and safe, with features like throttle mapping, blind-spot detection, and Bluetooth connectivity to bring you an effortless experience.
The MOU’s were exchanged in the presence of Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India.
