With an aim to empower women, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand Britannia Industries along with tech giant Google launched the fourth edition of “Britannia Marie Gold My Startup Season 4”. This initiative may help women entrepreneurs to make their idea into big business.
Under Britannia Marie Gold My Startup Season 4, the FMCG company will make homemakers into entrepreneurs and will also award an amount of Rs 10 lakhs to at least 10 selected participants under this initiative as well as business skilling from Google.
This will also help women entrepreneurs to get business literacy training in collaboration with Google for aspiring women under the Women Will program. Besides, certificates will also be distributed to all the participants who complete this training.
Speaking on the launch, Amit Doshi, Chief Marketing Officer, Britannia Industries Ltd. said, “Britannia Marie Gold has a decades-long association with India's homemakers. We've run three successful seasons of the Marie Gold My Startup initiative, and around 4 million applications were received from women across the country, of which around 60 per cent are from non-metro areas.”
“This year, we have tied up with Google to provide digital business skilling resources to aspiring women entrepreneurs, with an aim to make their startup journey enriching, satisfying and sustainable,” the chief marketing officer of Britannia Industries said in his comment.
Britannia Marie Gold's My Startup campaign has successfully completed three seasons to support women entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurial journey. Wherein, Indian housewives were given financial assistance and skill training to start their entrepreneurial journey.
In the second edition, 10,000 housewives were made financially literate through basic communication skills, and access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in a partnership with NSDC to make them economically and socially self-reliant.
While in the third Season, the Britannia Marie Gold My Start-up campaign helped homemakers connect to the Internet to help them grow their businesses.
According to Momspresso, Indian Homemakers Entrepreneurship Report 2021, 77 per cent of homemakers believe that technology plays a key role in setting up their venture.
Google India, Director of Customer Solutions, Shalini Puchalpalli said, “Technology can help any business grow, but for that the leaders of these businesses and the people working for them should have the right skills. It's a must-have for all types of businesses around the world, especially women entrepreneurs - whether they're small business owners, manufacturers, developers or start-ups.”
