MSME Alert: Narendra Modi govt takes this major step for pottery, beekeeping artisans; migrant labourers to benefit too
The Narendra Modi government has issued new guidelines for pottery and beekeeping activities in a major push to help these segments. The move is aimed at rejuvenating the grass root economy to enable the government vision of an AtmaNirbhar Bharat. The Narendra Modi government has issued new guidelines for pottery and beekeeping activities in a major push to help these segments. The move is aimed at rejuvenating the grass root economy to enable the government vision of an AtmaNirbhar Bharat. The move comes after extending the much-needed support to the artisans involved in the Agarbatti business.
The new guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The Ministry will provide assistance in the form of training and material including pottery wheel, clay blunger and granulator. This scheme will likely benefit 6075 traditional and non-traditional pottery artisans, rural un-employed youth and migrant labourers, according to the government scheme will get benefitted from this Scheme.
In terms of financial support, the government will be extending assistance to the tune of Rs 19.50 cr for the financial year 2020-21 to the artisans associated with Centre of Excellence, MGIRI, Wardha, CGCRI, Khurja, VNIT, Nagpur and suitable IIT/NID/ NIFT.
The government has also provisioned an additional amount of Rs 50 cr for setting up of clusters in Terracotta, Red clay pottery, with new innovative value-added products to build pottery to crockery/ tile making capabilities, under ' SFURTI' scheme of the Ministry.
For beekeeping activity, the government will provide assistance of bee boxes, tool kits etc. Under this scheme, Bee boxes, with Bee colonies, will also be distributed to Migrant workers in Prime Minister Gareeb Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan (PMGKRA) districts.
The government will also give a 5-day beekeeping training.

The scheme will cover 2050 (1250 people from Self Help Groups and 800 migrant labourers) beekeepers during 2020-21 where a financial support of Rs 13 cr to artisans. The government has also made provision oa an additional Rs 50 cr for developing beekeeping honey clusters under the SFURTI scheme.
