Interview: Start-ups are now being built to last and be profitable, says PostFold co-founder
In an email-interview with Zee Business Online, Ashish Gurnani, Co-founder, PostFold, shares his views on the current Startup scenario in India and plans for his business. PostFold promises to offer "designer quality apparel that doesn't pinch the pocket. Clothes that are versatile, that can be worn to work, after work or on a Saturday night." The startup aims to make India PostFold is our quest to make India a leader of everyday modern fashion. Here are the excerpts:
1. How is the start-up current scenario in India?
For a country to grow it is extremely important for entrepreneurship to grow in the country side by side as well. As new businesses provide employment and encourage innovation. Start-up scenario in India and the world is on an upward trend, there is no better time to be an entrepreneur. People are open to try new products and people are willing to invest in new products.
2. Do you think the start-up ecosystem is now better than it was 5 years ago?
Definitely, it’s more organized and start-ups are now being built to last and be profitable rather than just achieving scale.
3. How the idea of starting this startup came to your mind?
PostFold was conceived when the co-founders, Ashish Gurnani and Aashray Thatai could not find clothes that would work post office. They thought of coming up with a brand where the clothes are so versatile, they can be worn to work, after work or on a Saturday night!
4. Have you received any funding?
We are a bootstrapped company.
5. What is the growth plan ahead?
PostFold aims to create an Omni channel experience, i.e. seamless and effortless, high-quality customer experiences. Eventually, we would like to expand with offline retail opportunities and be more technology led.
6. Have you reached the break-even point?
We are on the right trajectory.
