How this Agritech startup is helping farmers in India
Fasal, an artificial intelligence based internet of things (IoT) startup works towards the betterment of the farmers
In a country that is heavily dependent on the agricultural industry, there is always a need for new and better technology. The industry has witnessed some hardships in the form of droughts, floods, pesticides and other factors that have made it essential to seek for aid from other organisations. Fasal, an artificial intelligence based internet of things (IoT) startup works towards the betterment of the farmers by providing them with professional aid and assessment.
Started in 2018 by Ananda Verma and Shailendra Tiwari, this Bengaluru based agritech utilizes the advanced technology of artificial intelligence and the internet to come up with insights and analytics. Fasal monitors parameters all year and then that data is deduced by the software which is stored and recorded in the Fasal cloud platform. This data is scrutinized under various variables which will present the user with information like the crop's health, the pesticides to be used etc.
The Fasal platform also gives out predictions regarding the crop growth conditions, resource requirement which majorly includes irrigation, sprays, fertilization, and other preventive measures. This in turn informs and educates the farmer on how he or she should act and what steps he or she should take next.
The start up claims that with this advanced technology using AI, there will be a 25-30% cut on disease management cost and 15-20% cut on irrigation and fertilization costs. The crops that are on the limelight for special attention according to Fasal include grapes, tomatoes, capsicum, potato, onion, chili and pomegranate.
Till date, Fasal has provided benefits to farmers in the states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattisgarh
