Govt to question e-commerce cos on rising consumer grievances
Majority of the complaints registered on Consumer Affair's helpline were related to e-commerce sector.
The government may take actions against e-commerce companies on rising consumer complaints, sources told Aseem Manchanda of Zee Business.
Department of Consumer Affairs held a meeting on Tuesday with e-commerce companies and warned them to clear consumer complaints as soon as possible.
The ministry called for the meeting after, on June 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed handling of the consumer complaints and quizzed officials on the companies related to the e-commerce sector through PRAGATI.
In March 2015, Prime Minister Office designed Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) to address consumer's grievances.

PM Modi had given 10 days time to take necessary steps and come out with follow-up action.
To help consumers, the government may form guidelines soon, sources said.

As per the Business Broadcast News report, PM Modi was informed about the steps taken by the ministry on the rising consumer grievances and adding the capacity of the National Consumer Helpline.
