Amazon takes on Flipkarts Big 10 sale with similar offers
In the battle of e-commerce sites between Flipkart and Amazon the latter could be undermining the formers sale. Zeebiz looked into the offers for various consumer electronics and appliances on both sites and found an uncanny similarity.

With two mega sales of Flipkart and Amazon launched in close approximation this summer, shoppers have taken to the online sites to complete their end of season sale quotas but a silent storm appears to be in the offing on the other side of the counter.
Flipkart with its ‘Big 10 sale’ is commemorating its 10 year anniversary with a four day sale on consumer appliances and electronics among other products.
The e-commerce site is offering 50-90% discounts on fashion and offers on MakeMyTrip with flight ticket discounts.
Advertisements a plenty, Flipkart’s ‘Big 10’ ads appeared on banners and hoardings and even TV and online portals with the caption, “Not just a sale, it’s much bigger!”
The sale began on May 14 and will continue till May 18.
However a cold war could be brewing between India’s home grown – Flipkart and the American e-commerce site – Amazon.
Amazon that just concluded its four day ‘Great Indian Sale,’ from May 11-14, appears to be stealing the show from Flipkart’s Big 10 sale by offering the same products at the same rate or even lesser.
Zeebiz went through a few of the deals and compared them with both the sites and the difference between the prices were sometimes negligible and other times non-existent.
One of the most awaited deals on Flipkart’s Big 10 sale was Apple iPhone 7, 32GB variant, which was sold at 26% discount at Rs 43,999.
Currently this deal has been wiped off Flipkart’s site but not to worry if you have not bought one yet, Amazon is offering the same phone for the same price.
Apple iPads 32GB 9.7 inch Retina display is being offered at the same price of Rs 24,900 on Flipkart and Amazon as well.
Flipkart is selling Apple iPhone 6s 32GB gold variant at a 25% off at Rs 35,999; while Amazon is selling the same at a ‘28% discount’ at Rs 35,999.
The quantity of the discount set aside, both sites are selling the products at the same price.
Another product that was prided by Flipkart on providing attractive deals were hard disks offering prices that started at Rs 4,999.
Zeebiz found that the Seagate Backup Plus Slim (2TB) hard disk on Flipkart and Amazon is going for Rs 6099.
Coming to consumer appliances, the high in demand air conditioners, Voltas 1.5 ton 5 Star Split AC-White is for Rs 27,999 on both sites.
A safe bet is to glance at both sites simultaneously regardless of a sale to avail of the best deals.
Flipkart offered the Google Pixel 32GB variant at a 19% discount for Rs 43,999, which is now sold out. However Amazon is offering the phone (Very Silver colour) for Rs 44,280.
The Samsung Galaxy on Nxt and Lenovo Core i3 6th Gen Ideapad 110 Notebook which is available on Flipkart for Rs 14,900 and Rs 20,990 respectively is not on Amazon.
Other products with slight price difference include LG’s 32 inch HD TV, Haier 6KG front load washing machine and the JBL Flip II.
