7th Pay Commission latest news: The Central Government has cleared confusion in regard to the salary increment rules in 7th CPC for the central government employees who have got a promotion. The Central Government has said that if a central government employee gets a promotion from 2nd January to 30th June, he or she will get a salary increment from 1st January in the next year.
Clarity on the increment
Date of Promotion vs Date of Increment
Speaking on the latest announcement by Anurag Thakur in salary increment rules under the 7th pay commission Harishankar Tiwari, General Secretary at All India Audit & Accounts Association said, "Now, from onwards, a central government employee will have to choose either of DoP (Date of Promotion) or DNI. It's a regular process. If a central government employee gets promotion between 2nd January to 30th June, they will get a new increment after the completion of six months and hence they will get DNI as 1st January next year." Performance-based appraisal system
Tiwari said that prior to 7th Pay Commission implementation, Central Government Employees used to get promotion on 10, 20 and 30 years under the assured career progression (ACP) scheme. Changing the ACP norms, 7th Pay Commission recommended that only those central government employees will get promotion who have performed well during the financial year and this performance-based appraisal got accepted by the center.
