7th Pay Commission latest news today: For government employees a number of allowances have been granted by the government. These are time bound to an extent but often there is delay due to some exigency or the other. However, the same is paid within a reasonable period. Dearness allowance is one such allowance that brings cheers to employees. After the arrival of New Year 2020, state government employees have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) for January to June period of 2020. In fact, their expectation was that they will get at least 4 per cent DA for Jan-June 2020 period as inflation had gone up by 3 points in July, August, September and October month. However, there was a surprise in store as events revealed.

It has been announced that Gujarat state government employees will get as much as 5 per cent dearness allowance (DA) and and dearness relief (DR). Yes, this will cheer government employees and pensioners immensely. The same was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel. EMPLOYEES AND PENSIONERS WERE GETTING 12 PER CENT DA AND DR
So, from getting 12 per cent DA and DR respectively, state government staffers would now get 17 per cent, which is currently being given to the Central Government employees. While announcing the decision in Gandhinagar, Patel said that the decision would help as many as 5.11 lakh employees and nearly 4.5 lakh pensioners in the state of Gujarat. Photo: Reuters
