7th Pay Commission: Employees working with central as well as state governments have received many benefits this month. These are being announced virtually on a daily basis for one section of the employees to another. This will really make for a very SPECIAL Diwali for them for sure. In fact, the news of hikes in 7th pay commission based allowances has been so frequent, many have missed them. So, if you happen to have missed any such important news, we list the top ones here. The first gift was a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). Also, several states follow the practice of giving bonus on Diwali-Chhath including Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. State governments have issued orders for that too, and the government employees are hopeful that the salary of October would also be credited to their salary account before Diwali i.e. 25 October.
Gujarat government's greatest gift
The government of Gujarat has more than doubled the salary of more than 12,000 employees of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), and now as many as 12,692 GSRTC staff will get the benefit. Under this, the salary of Senior Scale Class-2 officer has been increased from Rs 16000 to Rs 40800, while junior scale class 2 officer will get a salary Rs 14,800 to Rs 38,000 in month. Dhanavarsha for EPFO employees
The central government has extended bonus gift of 60 days to EPFO employees ahead of Diwali. The Union Labour Ministry has issued an order to this effect. 7th Pay Commission Travel allowance hike
The central government has also increased the 7th pay commission based travel allowance (TA) of 52 lakh government employees along with dearness allowance (DA). These employees will now get 5% DA on fixed TA according to cities they are posted with. With this benefit, the salary of government employees will be increased from Rs 540 to Rs 4320 annually, and most benefitted are the employees in Tier 1 cities. Their salary will have a hike of Rs 810 per month to Rs 4320 annually. Similarly, the salary of employees of Tier 2 and other cities has increased from Rs 540 to Rs 2160 annually. Bumper Diwali for these employees
The government has also increased the salary of the employees associated with health services, and their salary has also witnessed a hike from Rs 4100 to Rs 5300 per month. Rs 4000 bonus for these employees on Diwali
In Kerala, the state government has announced to extend an Ad-Hoc bonus to its employees before the festival. This 7th pay commission bonus will be given to all the state employees, staff of aided educational institutions, full time contingent employees along with others.
