Top Large-cap vs flexi-cap vs ELSS mutual fund: Which fund has given maximum returns in SIP and lump sum in 3 years
As per Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) data, the top large-cap mutual fund in the three years is Nippon India Large Cap Fund, the top flexi cap is JM Flexi Cap, and Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund tops the chart in the ELSS category.
Large-cap, flexi-cap and Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) are three popular mutual fund categories that are known for their stability. While large-cap mutual funds have most of their money in large-cap companies, flexi-cap and ELSS funds also invest most of their money in large-cap companies. Given their exposure to large-cap companies, they are considered a stable long-term investment option. The Securities Exchange Board of India (Sebi) categorises the three funds as follows:
Large Cap Fund- At least 80 per cent investment in large cap stocks
Flexi Cap Fund- At least 65 per cent investments in equity & equity related instruments
ELSS- At least 80 per cent in stocks in accordance with Equity Linked Saving Scheme, 2005, notified by Ministry of Finance
As per Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the best large-cap mutual fund in the three years has been Nippon India Large Cap Fund which has given a return of 26.20 per cent.
JM Flexi Cap is the top-performing flexi-cap mutual fund in the three-year period with an annualised return of 31.86 per cent.
On the other hand, Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund is the top-performing ELSS fund with a 29.16 per cent return in the three years.
Here's what the Rs 2 lakh lump sum amount and the Rs 10,000 SIP investment in each of the funds have given in the last three years.
Nippon India Large Cap Fund
Lump sum return
On a Rs 2 lakh lump sum investment, one has long-term capital gains of Rs 2,01,983 and a maturity amount of Rs 4,01,983 in the three-year period.
SIP return
A Rs 10,000 SIP in the same fund for three years, or a Rs 3.60 lakh investment overall, has given Rs 5,19,922 as the maturity value.
JM Flexi Cap
Lump sum return
The top flexi-cap mutual fund has given long-term capital gains of Rs 2,58,531.54 and the maturity amount of Rs 4,58,531.54 in the three-year period on a Rs 200,000 lump sum investment.
SIP return
The one who started a Rs 10,000 SIP three years ago in the fund has Rs 5,90,928 as the maturity value as of today's date.
Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund
Lump sum return
After making an investment of Rs two lakh in the top ELLS fund in India three years ago, one has got Rs 2,30,937.32 in long-term capital gains and the maturity amount of Rs 4,30,937.
SIP return
A Rs 10,000 SIP per month for three years has given Rs 5,33,841 overall.
