The large and mid cap mutual fund category is the one that has at least 35 per cent investment in large cap stocks as well as 35 per cent in mid cap stocks.

Here, the fund manager can shift investments to the mid-cap category, which has been performing better.

E.g., if large-cap companies have been performing better, the manager can invest more in large caps, while they can focus more on mid caps if the companies in that category have been performing well.

Many of the large and mid cap funds have done well in the last five years in terms of SIP returns (XIRR). Here is a list of these seven funds.

Quant Large and Mid Cap Fund

The fund at No. 1 has an annualised SIP return (XIRR) of 32.15 per cent. It has assets under management (AUM) of Rs 2,535 crore and a net asset value (NAV) of Rs 125.0675. 

A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 in the fund has given a total of Rs 13.20 lakh in the five-year period. 

Bandhan Core Equity Fund - Direct plan - growth

The fund has given a 27.43 per cent return in the five-year period. It has an AUM of Rs 4,394.78 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 129.117.

A Rs 10,000 SIP a month in the fund has given a total of Rs 11,80,589.20 in the five-year period. 

ICICI Prudential Large and Mid Cap Fund- Direct Plan- Growth

The large and mid cap fund from ICICI Mutual Fund has given an annual SIP return of 27.27 per cent in the five years.

It has an AUM of Rs 13,117.39 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 932.25.

An SIP of Rs 10,000 a month has given a total of Rs 11,76,167.60 in the five-year period.

HDFC Large and Mid Cap Fund - Direct Plan - Growth

The fund from HDFC Mutual Fund has given a 26.97 per cent SIP return in the five years.

The fund's AUM is Rs 18,691.62 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 305.31.

A monthly Rs 10,000 SIP in the fund has given a total of Rs 11,67,566.20 in the five-year period. 

Axis Growth Opportunities Fund - Direct Plan - Growth

The fund has given anualised SIP returns of 25.98 per cent in the five years.

It has an AUM of Rs 12,096.56 crore, while the fund's NAV size is Rs 30.77.

A Rs 10,000 SIP in the fund has given a total of Rs 11,39,624.40 in the five-year period. 

UTI Large and Mid Cap Fund - Direct Plan - Growth

The fund from UTI Mutual Fund has given an annualised SIP return of 25.66 per cent.

The fund has an AUM of Rs 2,978 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 159.72.

A Rs 10,000 SIP has given a total of Rs 11.31 lakh in the fund.

SBI Large and Mid Cap Fund - Direct Plan - Growth

The fund has given annualised SIP returns of 25.40 per cent in the five-year period.

The fund size is Rs 22,689.50 crore, while its NAV is worth Rs 564.2712.

A Rs 10,000 SIP in the fund has given a total of Rs 11,23,967.10.
